Fredrik Niemela is a distinguished leader in international informatics and cybersecurity education, currently serving as the President of the International Cybersecurity Olympiad (ICO) 2026 Committee, which will be held in Sydney, Australia. With extensive experience in organizing and leading prestigious international competitions, he has served on the International Committee of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) from 2008 to 2011, and on the International Scientific Committee (ISC) from 2011 to 2014. He has also held key positions with the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), serving as Problem Archive Director and Standards Committee Chair. Additionally, he has directed the Nordic Collegiate Programming Contest (NCPC) for the 2024 and 2025 editions.
