Biography
Associate Professor Tan Sun Teck is a distinguished academic and leader in competitive programming and informatics education. He serves as an Associate Professor on the Educator Track at the National University of Singapore (NUS) School of Computing and is the Emeritus Director of the Centre for Nurturing Computing Excellence (CeNCE). In September 2024, he was elected President of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), the world's premier competitive programming competition. Under his leadership, the Singapore IOI team achieved its highest performance in history in 2021, winning three gold medals and one silver medal. He has been instrumental in organizing and training students for prestigious competitions including the National Olympiad in Informatics (NOI), IOI, and the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). Notably, he played a key role in organizing the IOI 2020. His research interests encompass competitive programming, educational systems, and peer evaluation, and he has been recognized with the National Day Long Service Award for his outstanding contributions to computing education.
